I knew Frank from freshman year baseball. It seems we were always the last few guys out of the locker room and then hustling to Horner Park for practice trying not to slip on the pavement in our brand new spikes. And then we had Mr. Mims for junior English. Mims was great at drawing out the best in his students and Frank really responded to Mims and the material. Junior year was all that British Lit, good vs. evil stuff — "1984," "Lord of the Flies" and "Brave New World," etc. Do they still teach that stuff. I was hoping to see Frank at the reunion. He was a good guy.
Frank and I went to grammar school together at St. Henry and were classmates at Lane. At Lane, we tried out for the baseball team; he made it, and I didn't. Nonetheless, we stayed friends throughout our time at Lane. We lost touch for quite a while; however, we reconnected and then a few years later, his son told me he passed away. Gone much too soon.
